This is a fine example of the much sought after Colvic Watson 31.6. Nimrod is a long keel, heavy displacement motor sailer with upgraded navigation equipment and is sturdy and safe to go anywhere. The, very handy, bow thruster ensures you can get into the tightest spot even when single handed.
One thing I really like about Nimrod over any other boat I have sailed is just how steady she is. That and the fact that if you set a course, the hydraulic auto pilot keeps it true while you get on with other things.
Power onboard has not been a problem with the 60w solar panel on the roof and an array of smaller panels to move to any window with sun coming in. To add to that there is a wind turbine for even more power and there is also lots of leisure battery capacity too.
Her Volvo Penta D2 @ 75hp diesel engine was fitted not long before I bought her in 2017 (maybe 2014) and has been well maintained since and still looks like new. Engine hours 680 (approx)
The hull was built in 1983 and the superstructure in 1988 but was finished off and launched in 1995.
The RADAR fitted to the mast has the cables but is not connected to anything. I use AIS which is much more user friendly in my opinion.

The saloon is smart and comfortable and I believe the cushions were recovered in 2014 (ish).
The cabin has plenty of storage in the cubbyholes seen in the sides and there is a wardrobe just out of shot on the right. There is also a tall mirror on the left.
The pictures of the galley show that there is still some ‘finishing off’ to be done (isn’t there always). To be honest, as you move around Nimrod you will see there are plenty of ‘little jobs’ to do but there always is on a boat of this age and besides, it allows the new owner to bring their own flare to the finished item. Happy to talk about it.
Nimrod is hauled out every other year since Ive had her and everything gets checked and anodes replaced if necessary. As you can see she has a copper coat and I can say that it is money well spent. She has to have a wash down because ‘that’s the rules’ but there has never been anything more than a bit of slime on the hull. She was last out in 2021.
The does have some scratches at the moment as some kind person did a bit of a ‘hit and run’ on her. Apart from that, the hull polishes up really well and looks a real treat when done. NIMROD IS A REAL HEAD TURNER when she is at her best.
Nearly all the navigation equipment was updated in 2017/18 to take advantage of and completely new NMEA 2000 network. Not shown here the depth and speed log were also replaced. If you look back to the engine room you can just see the log.
The AXIOM is the hub for for all the navigation and brings it all together in one place. It also includes WiFi so if you can find a good signal you can use Spotify and Netflix. It can also controls the FM/AM/Bluetooth radio (not shown here) which was also installed in 2017/18.
The auto pilot and wind instruments are original (to me) and still uses the old network (0183) but integrates with NMEA 2000 via the ????? Not shown. Will upload photos later.
A single Volvo Penta D75 engine with 685 hours. Fitted, I believe, in 2014 and still looks like new. It’s well maintained and there are a great many filters, oils and spares in the closed box shown in the picture.
The pictures also show a nice clean engine room, the calorifier and the battery compartment stuffed full of batteries (2017/18).
The headsail shown is now in the storage area below and a new (2020?) larger one has been fitted. This sail does the real work and, in the right wind, can really power Nimrod on. Apart from that, no changes have been made to and of the spars or rigging but I consider it to be in reasonable condition, good working order and should not pose any problems.
That being said, the new owner must make up their own mind on inspection.
